American Idol Season 6 contestant Antonella Barba finds her next big opportunity by capitalizing on the saturation of New Jersey-related reality TV shows with her latest single, "Jersey Girl". Like the TV shows, the song is long on glitz and short on substance. Barba has a strong voice that's pleasant to listen to, but she's entirely co-opted her sound to fit a corporate concept of what is marketable. In Barba's defense, "Jersey Girl" is a serviceably catchy pop song that will work on the pop charts and in the dance clubs. I have no doubt the song will be a big summer hit that's forgotten by Halloween.
