Chrome & The Ice Queen - Sway
Chrome & The Ice Queen - Sway
2010, Chrome & The Ice Queen
"Sway" is a slinky come-on song for those who will listen from Toronto’s Chrome & The Ice Queen. Built upon a slow, rhythmic beat and ethereal layered synth landscape, The Ice Queen (The Owle Bird's Lisa Conway) lays down a cyclic vocal with a gothic Tim Burton femme fatale feel. The composition and arrangement themselves are a bit limited, but the ambience of the song is stark and compelling; like the soundtrack to melancholy burlesque that just won't go away. While "Sway" isn't likely to find a home on commercial radio, it's the sort of song that could become a cult dance club favorite or find its way onto a movie soundtrack with relative ease. It's just one song, but "Sway" suggests that Chrome & The Ice Queen may have more up their sleeves worth hearing.
Rating: 3.5 Stars (Out of 5)
